Module 1: Understanding migration

By the end of this module you will understand:

  • Why people come to the UK and where they come from
  • The economic impact of immigration
  • The different types of immigration status
  • How immigration affects the right to work and to access state support
  • Attitudes to immigrants in the UK.

This module has eight components, beginning with a short quiz to test your knowledge about immigration in the UK and an opportunity to reflect on your own attitudes to migrants and their use of services in the UK.
